Privacy Policy
This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or browsing data to any server. All analysis runs entirely in your browser.
What the extension does
When you open the extension popup on a web page, the extension reads the contents of that page directly in your browser to perform an SEO analysis. This includes:
- Page title, meta description, and other meta tags
- Heading structure (H1–H6)
- Open Graph and Twitter Card tags
- Canonical URL and hreflang attributes
- Structured data (JSON-LD, Microdata, RDFa)
- Images, links, and their attributes
- Core Web Vitals and performance metrics
- Accessibility signals (landmarks, labels, skip links)
The results are displayed immediately in the popup and discarded when you close it.
To show the redirect chain of a page (for example http:// → https://),
the extension observes top-level page navigations in your tabs and records the URL and HTTP
status code of each redirect. Requests are only observed, never blocked or modified, and no
request or response content, headers, or cookies are read.
Network requests
In some checks, the extension makes network requests on your behalf to URLs associated with the page you are analyzing:
robots.txt— to check whether the file exists at the page's originsitemap.xml— to check whether the file exists at the page's origin- Hreflang alternate URLs — to verify that alternate-language pages link back to the current page
These requests are made directly from your browser to the target URLs. No data from the responses is stored or sent anywhere else.
Data storage
Besides your view setting (below), the only data the extension keeps is the redirect chain described above. It is held in
chrome.storage.session, which lives in memory for the current browser session only.
A tab's record is deleted when the tab is closed, and everything is cleared when the browser
exits.
The extension also remembers which view you chose (Simple or Expert). This one setting is stored
in chrome.storage.local on your device and contains nothing about you or the pages
you analyze. Nothing else is written to disk and nothing is saved remotely.
Third parties
The extension does not include analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
The popup loads its fonts (Instrument Sans and Geist Mono) from Google Fonts, so opening it
sends a standard font request to fonts.googleapis.com and
fonts.gstatic.com. Like any web request, this exposes your IP address and browser
user agent to Google; no page content or browsing data is included. See the
Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
Apart from this and the requests described above, the extension makes no requests to external servers.
Permissions
The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- activeTab
- to read the content of the tab you are currently viewing when the popup is open
- scripting
- to inject the analysis script into tabs that were open before the extension was installed
- storage
- to keep the redirect chain in session-only memory (
chrome.storage.session) until the tab is closed, and to remember your chosen view (chrome.storage.local) - webRequest
- to observe redirects of top-level page navigations and show the redirect chain; requests are never blocked or modified
- host permissions<all_urls>
- required to analyze any web page and to fetch robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and hreflang URLs across all domains
